GDPR Update

Friday 18t May 2018

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) proposed by the European Commission will take effect on May 25, 2018. GDPR is a European Union (EU) regulation that requires companies to protect the personal data of EU citizens. It will replace the current data protection legislation in effect for each individual EU member state. GDPR also regulates the transfer of personal data of EU citizens to places outside the EU, and broadens the scope of what is considered to be “personal data.”

Travel Leaders Group, (Barrhead Business Travel’s parent company), has established a cross-functional team to assess and address the application of GDPR to our European and global operations.  We are focused on the development and implementation of company-wide solutions to address GDPR requirements and readiness.

We anticipate that our efforts may involve updates to contractual terms governing client arrangements impacted by GDPR, and we will contact affected clients in the upcoming weeks to incorporate appropriate contractual clauses addressing GDPR.

Travel Leaders Group strives to deliver an exceptional customer experience, and are committed to protecting our customers’ information.  We will continue to make required operational changes in accordance with GDPR and share relevant updates with you over the next few months.
